Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has backed the decision to dismiss nearly 1,000 current and former Israeli Air Force reservists who signed a public letter calling for an end to the ongoing war in Gaza. In their statement, the reservists argued that the war no longer serves Israel’s security interests and is now being driven by political motives. They emphasized that continued military operations put the lives of both Israeli hostages and civilians in danger and urged the government to pursue a ceasefire to secure the safe return of the captives.

Netanyahu responded sharply, condemning the letter as divisive and harmful to national unity. He accused the signatories of undermining the strength of the military and giving an advantage to Israel’s enemies during a critical time. Despite mounting pressure from military leadership, only a small number of those who signed the letter have since withdrawn their support.

Reports indicate that both the Israeli Chief of Staff and the Air Force Commander have agreed to proceed with the dismissal of those involved. The move has sparked widespread criticism, with many accusing Netanyahu of deliberately extending the war in Gaza to safeguard his own political position. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with local health authorities reporting tens of thousands of casualties, including both the dead and wounded.
