New York is heightening security measures for the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup in response to reported threats, particularly concerning the India-Pakistan match. Governor Kathy Hochul affirmed collaboration with federal and local law enforcement to ensure attendee safety, stating there's currently no credible threat. A bulletin from the New York City Police Department warned of potential violence or disruption during the tournament, referencing recent pro-ISIS propaganda linked to the India-Pakistan match. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder disclosed threats received, including one linked to ISIS-K. The historic rivalry between India and Pakistan, despite limited bilateral series due to political tensions, makes their matches highly anticipated globally. Hochul directed the New York State Police to increase presence, surveillance, and screening for the tournament. The T20 World Cup, featuring the newest format in cricket, will take place from June 1-29 across nine stadiums in the West Indies and the United States.
