Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reluctant to agree to any deal demanding an end to Israel's war in Gaza, despite the United States claiming an Israeli proposal could conclude the operation. Netanyahu stated that the goals are to rescue the abductees and overthrow Hamas in Gaza. He noted that Israel's intensified military operation in Rafah is nearing completion, saying, "The intense phase of the fight against Hamas is coming to an end. It doesn't mean the war will end, but the intense phase in Rafah is ending." Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Israelis are protesting against Netanyahu and his government, calling for early elections and the return of abductees.
