Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a strong supporter of Israel, has criticized President Joe Biden for pausing the delivery of 3000 heavy bombs to Israel. Drawing a comparison to World War II, Graham defended the US's decision to drop nuclear bombs on Japan and suggested Israel should be given the necessary bombs to end its conflict with Hamas. He argued that Israel should take any measures needed for its survival as a Jewish state. Graham blamed Hamas for civilian casualties, accusing them of using civilians as human shields, and claimed that mitigating civilian deaths in Gaza is impossible under such conditions. Biden's decision to pause bomb deliveries and his criticisms of Israel's military actions follow growing domestic protests and frustrations among Democrats.
