ICC prosecutor Karim Khan has sought arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar for war crimes following the 7 October Hamas attack on Israel. Other Israeli and Hamas leaders, including Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh, are also targeted. Khan alleges crimes such as murder, torture, and starvation by both sides. Netanyahu condemned the ICC's move, equating Israel with Hamas, while US President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken also rejected the court's decision. Hamas criticized the ICC for comparing them with Israel and called for the cancellation of the warrants. The ICC's decision is unprecedented for a Western democracy leader and challenges its jurisdiction over non-member states like Israel.
