Hezbollah, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Israeli military bases near Acre, marking its deepest strike into Israeli territory since the Gaza conflict began. Israel denied knowledge of any hits but intercepted two "aerial targets" off its northern coast. Both sides have engaged in missile exchanges since October, raising concerns of escalation and involvement of other powers like the US. Hezbollah cited retaliation for an Israeli attack that killed one of its fighters. Israel retaliated with airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The conflict has claimed lives on both sides, with Israeli strikes killing around 270 Hezbollah fighters and civilians, while Hezbollah's attacks have killed Israeli soldiers and civilians, displacing tens of thousands.
