A 21-year-old man, Nilesh Gosai, has been arrested in Rajkot for allegedly killing his mentally-ill mother and posting a picture of her dead body on social media. The incident came to light when a local resident informed police about the incident and officials arrived at the scene to see the accused, Nilesh Gosai, sitting next to his mother’s body in Bhagatsinhji Garden on University Road in Rajkot.
Nilesh confessed to the crime, revealing that he initially tried to attack his mother with a knife, but when Jyotiben (48) wrest the knife away, he strangled her with a blanket. After committing the crime, he posted a photo of his mother on Instagram with the caption, “Sorry mom I kill you, I miss you, Om shanti (sic).” A primary investigation revealed that Nilesh killed his mother in a fit of rage amid frequent altercations, allegedly brought on by Jyoti's erratic behavior and verbal and physical abuse. Nilesh, a factory worker, claimed that his mother's behavior had become increasingly erratic and disruptive, with her physical assaults and violent tendencies. He lost control and strangled his mother during a particularly intense episode on August 29.
