Dubai experienced a deluge, with a year and a half's worth of rain falling in a single day, resulting in chaos and one confirmed fatality. The heavy downpour disrupted travel at Dubai Airport, causing flight diversions and delays. Passengers faced long waits and transportation challenges amid flooded roads and terminals. Airport officials described the situation as unprecedented and challenging. The rainfall, termed a historic weather event, overwhelmed the city's infrastructure and drainage systems. The UAE government issued warnings prior to the storm, urging people to stay indoors. Factors contributing to the intense rainfall include human-induced climate change and cloud seeding operations. Despite efforts to mitigate flooding, the city was unprepared for such extreme weather conditions. Recovery efforts, including pumping out water and assessing damages, were underway.
