OpenAI's ChatGPT experienced two major outages in a single day, disrupting service for users on both mobile and web platforms. Thousands reported issues on Downdetector, with service restored by 1:17 PM ET. Concurrently, Google Gemini, Anthropic's Claude AI, and Perplexity AI search tools faced similar problems but were quickly resolved. Unlike previous outages in November, this incident did not affect OpenAI's API. In the past, Microsoft outages also impacted ChatGPT's search features alongside their Copilot service.
