Dublin City Council has temporarily shut down a livestream portal connecting New York City to Dublin due to inappropriate behavior. Within a week of its installation, incidents such as flashing, inappropriate gestures, and sharing of sensitive content occurred, overshadowing positive interactions like reunions and proposals. Despite being a minority, viral videos prompted action. The council plans technical solutions to address the issue. The portal, launched on May 8, aims to unite people across borders. Created by artist Benediktas Gylys, it fosters global connections and cultural exchanges. The Dublin portal will extend to Poland, Brazil, and Lithuania, with the New York connection continuing until autumn.
