Ahead of elections, the UK has intensified efforts against undocumented immigrants, with the Home Office conducting a major raid in Bethnal Green, East London, using facial recognition cameras in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police. This area has a significant Bangladeshi population. A similar operation occurred on April 30 in Whitechapel, another Bangladeshi-majority area. The number of detainees remained unconfirmed by Wednesday evening. Md Iqbal Hossain of Chancery Solicitors expressed widespread anxiety among undocumented Bangladeshis, suggesting that legalizing their status could benefit the UK economy and increase tax revenue.
