Jamaica's government recently decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine, emphasizing its support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This move, announced by Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith, aligns with Jamaica's commitment to UN principles and the rights of self-determination. The decision reflects concerns over the ongoing crisis in Gaza and advocates for peaceful resolution through diplomatic dialogue rather than military action. Jamaica calls for an immediate ceasefire, release of hostages, and increased humanitarian aid access, particularly for vulnerable populations. With this recognition, Jamaica joins 140 other UN member states in acknowledging Palestine's statehood.
