The Israeli military bombed a UN-linked school in Gaza, resulting in at least 40 deaths, including 14 children and 9 women, with over 70 injured. Hamas condemned the attack as a "massacre," accusing Israel of targeting civilians. The UNRWA school housed thousands of displaced Palestinians. Israel claimed the strike targeted a Hamas compound, alleging it thwarted planned attacks. The violence escalated amid ceasefire efforts, with over 100 deaths in 24 hours. Doctors Without Borders described the situation in Gaza as "apocalyptic," with hospitals overwhelmed. The conflict has led to significant casualties, with Hamas demanding a permanent ceasefire and Israeli forces rejecting it. Despite international mediation efforts, Israel's Defense Minister stated the fighting would continue.
