In Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Catholic priest Reverend Lawrence Kozak faces charges for allegedly spending over $40,000 on mobile game purchases using a church credit card. The expenditures, spanning three years, were discovered by a church accountant in 2022. Kozak reportedly admitted to his addiction during a police interview and clarified that the purchases were for game "power-ups," not gambling. He claimed the church card was linked to his accounts for bill payments but acknowledged potential accidental use for games. Kozak was removed from his church position in 2022 following an internal probe. He sent an $8,000 reimbursement and expressed remorse for his actions.
