Peacock has announced its acquisition of the upcoming The Office revival by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. The new series will remain within the universe of the original mockumentary, shifting focus to a struggling Midwestern newspaper and its attempts at revival. Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore are set to lead the ensemble cast. Production, helmed by Universal Television, is slated to begin in July. The project is touted as a spinoff rather than a reboot, with a focus on fresh comedic storytelling. Executive producers include Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, and others. No release date has been confirmed yet, but production progress hints at updates in the near future.
