By collecting polythene waste from the municipal dump, he burns it in a tin drum on a stove, producing about 1.5 liters of fuel oil per kilogram of polythene. This small-scale process costs him around 80 to 85 taka, but Anwar estimates large-scale production could reduce the cost to 40 to 50 taka. At his home, Anwar heats the polythene in a sealed drum, causing it to melt and release water vapor, which is then condensed into petrol, octane, and diesel in separate containers. His neighbor, Nand Dulal, and his wife, Ruma, support his initiative, with Ruma assisting in the process. Anwar's homemade fuel powers his motorcycle, and he envisions expanding the operation with government support to reduce environmental harm from polythene waste. Kazi Tofazzel Haque from the Barguna BSIC district office expressed support for Anwar's initiative, noting that BSIC can assist with plot allocation or loans if Anwar obtains clearance from the Department of Environment. Anwar aims to scale up his operation to commercial levels with adequate resources and a safe production site.
