A pregnant woman, Sima Akhter, was stabbed to death in Dhaka's Jatrabari area. She lived in a rented apartment behind Shahid Zia Girls School and College with her family. Sima's husband, Jewel Rana, is a fruit vendor. The victim's father and brother reported that Sima visited her parental home on Tuesday evening. After entering the house, an unidentified person attacked her with a knife.
"I am pregnant, do not kill me," Sima reportedly cried out, but the attacker ignored her pleas and continued to stab her before fleeing the scene.
Sima was found lying in pain and writhing in pain. A surgery was performed to deliver the baby, but the newborn did not survive. Sima, who was in critical condition, also died around 3:30 pm. The family could not identify the attacker, and Sima had also been unable to recognize them. Both Sima and the newborn are in the hospital morgue.
