The Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, begun in August 2007, concluded 17 years later, easing daily commutes for thousands. Though inaugurated in June 2022, final tasks extended the deadline to June 30, with a one-year defect liability period. Project Director Shafiqul Islam noted the effort put into the project, which saw costs rise from Tk 10,161 crore to around Tk 31,000 crore. Despite challenges like the World Bank loan cancellation and the pandemic, government funding completed the bridge, linking the capital to the southwest.
