Khadim Syed Kabul Ahmad of the shrine stated that singing in the name of Urus has been completely banned since September 6. The shrine organizes three-day Urus on the 4th, 5th, and 6th of Rabiul Awal month every year. Devotees have been accused of engaging in un-Islamic activities outside the specific program of the shrine authorities. Sylhet City Corporation Ward No. 33 Councilor Delowar Hossain announced that all obscene activities, including music and drug consumption, will be stopped in Shah Paran shrine from now on. A committee will be formed to oversee the matter, including Muslims, students, and scholars.
