The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has uncovered extensive wealth, including land and flats, owned by public official Motiur Rahman and his family. This discovery is tied to a prior scandal involving an extravagant goat purchase. The court in Dhaka granted the ACC's request to seize these assets, which include 866 cents of land and four flats in Dhaka, among other properties.

The properties seized include land in Barisal, Narsingdi, and multiple flats in Dhaka. The investigation began after media reports highlighted Motiur's wealth, leading to the formation of a three-member committee to probe allegations of illegal asset accumulation and money laundering.

Travel bans have been imposed on Motiur, his wife Laila Kaniz Lucky, and their son. Motiur has also been removed from his position in the NBR and the Sonali Bank board. The ACC has sent letters to various offices to investigate additional assets possibly owned by Motiur and his family, indicating a broader inquiry into their wealth sources. Laila Kaniz Lucky, formerly an associate professor, became the unopposed Chairman of Raipura Upazila in 2022.
