From now on, a minimum of 60 hours of training will be compulsory for applicants. The existing committees related to licensing will be dissolved, and trainees will receive a training allowance. Road Transport and Bridges Advisor Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan announced the decision on Wednesday morning during an event marking National Safe Road Day 2025. He said, “A fundamental change is coming to the driving license system. The main emphasis will be on proper training. A 60-hour training program will be mandatory, and trainees will be given allowances.” He added that training will be conducted not only at centers run by the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) but also at government-approved private training institutions. The program will assess knowledge of road signs, vehicle control, physical fitness, and drug testing. The training initiative is expected to start as early as next month.
