The country experienced 1,874 MW of load shedding at 3 pm to meet the demand of 14,750 MW on Monday. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) forecast predicts load shedding will increase in the evening due to the increased demand of 15,900 MW on the day. Dhaka city residents experienced power cuts for several spells due to the hot weather. BPDB officials claim that they have not been able to generate electricity from gas-fired power plants due to inadequate gas supply. Petrobangla officials have also been unable to resume the operation of its LNG terminal due to the national grid's inability to obtain 500 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) from imported supply. The country produced 2,609.4 MMCFD against a demand of about 4000 MMCFD gas.
