In line with the 'Smart Bangladesh' vision, Khilgaon Taltala City Corporation Market in Dhaka has gone cashless through a collaborative effort between Bangladesh Bank, DNCC, and MasterCard. This initiative allows over 1000 traders to receive digital payments, promoting formal financial services and creating a digital business footprint. DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam emphasized the government's goal of a cashless ecosystem and highlighted previous online services like holding tax and trade licenses. MasterCard's COO for South Asia, Vikas Verma, expressed optimism about Bangladesh's shift towards cashless transactions, noting the initiative's role in promoting digital payments among merchants and consumers.
