Ex-Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Harun-ur-Rashid has been criticized for irregularities, fraud, and disorderly activities. Despite committing crimes for years, Haroon has never been punished, and his assets worth at least 1000 crores have been found in Uttara, Gazipur, and Kishoreganj. He owns at least three resorts, several residential hotels, and at least 10 other companies. Harun's multi-storied houses, flats, and plots have been found in Uttara, Gazipur, and Purbachal. He has also sold a plot of 20 trees to a company for Tk 70 crore, constructed a company named JH-Geotex Limited without permission, and built a residential hotel on a 12 bigha land in Tongi. Transparency International Bangladesh Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman argues that Haroon's wealth is inconsistent with his legitimate income and that his abuse of power and extraordinary powers have led to his wealth.
