Bangladesh and West Bengal police are jointly investigating the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, whose disappearance was followed by grisly details of his death. West Bengal detectives suspect a connection to a dispute over gold smuggling, with several suspects detained. Indian police visited Dhaka for information exchange, revealing seizures of illegal gold shipments potentially linked to Anar's killing. Anar's involvement in facilitating gold smuggling from Dubai led to a rift with his partner, Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, escalating when Shaheen's shipments were intercepted. Anar's murder was meticulously planned over months, executed in a Kolkata flat on May 13, with the suspect keeping his phone active to mislead investigators.
