Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Dr. Md. Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, and offered to send a high-powered delegation to Bangladesh for the country's reconstruction. Erdoğan also invited Professor Muhammad Yunus to visit Turkey and Professor Muhammad Yunus invited President Erdogan to visit Bangladesh. In a phone conversation, Erdoğan expressed grief over the loss of life in flood-affected areas of Bangladesh and promised to provide humanitarian assistance. Yunus and Erdoğan are longtime friends, and Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan and Muhammad Yunus are members of a high-profile UN Zero-Waste Forum. Yunus proposed increasing Turkey's trade with Bangladesh, citing investment in important sectors, including manufacturing, where Turkiye is a strong global power.
