Dhaka University students protested the university's indefinite closure at the Vice Chancellor's residence around 12:30pm following an emergency syndicate meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof AKM Maksud Kamal. The decision to close the university and evacuate halls was made in response to escalating violence between quota reform protesters, Chhatra League activists, and police. The movement, ongoing for two weeks, seeks reform of the quota system for government jobs. Recent tensions were exacerbated by protests against remarks made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with legal developments adding further complexity to the situation.
