Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali proposed a budget allocation of Taka 2,211.95 crore for the Youth and Sports sector for the 2024-25 fiscal year, an increase of Taka 688.60 crore from the current year. The proposed budget includes Taka 1,234.08 crore for development and Taka 977.87 crore for operational expenses. Key projects include the further development of the Bangabandhu National Stadium, the second phase of the Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium at upazila levels, upgrading Barishal Shahid Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium, and constructing indoor stadiums and swimming pools in various districts. The government aims to enhance sports infrastructure, including stadiums, gymnasiums, and swimming pools, and provide sports equipment and financial support to sports clubs. The budget also proposes 20 new projects for sports development and focuses on long-term training for talented players, with regular financial grants to sports federations and organizations for domestic and international participation.
