BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that 422 BNP members were among the 875 people killed during the mass uprising in July and August. He emphasized that the lives lost, regardless of political or social background, are equally important. Speaking at a BNP Standing Committee press conference, Fakhrul reiterated the party's commitment to democracy, saying BNP played a key role in the people's uprising against what he described as fascism.

He highlighted several incidents where BNP leaders, students, and activists were killed by police, sparking national outrage and intensifying the movement. Fakhrul also noted that over 100 BNP members lost their eyesight due to police actions.
